I was recently chatting with another founder in women’s sports, and she said something that’s been LIVING in my mind.
“If you’re for everyone, you’re for no one.”
For a long time now, I’ve been carrying this self-judgement in my head.
The one that asks:
- Is this cringe?
- What will the guys I went to high school with think about my bras?
- Is my 3D-printed content too nerdy?
I think a lot of us, especially women building in public… know that voice well.
But here’s the thing I’m learning:
Yes, everyone will have an opinion. But not everyone is meant to be in the room.
And when I really sat with that question, “who am I actually building Robyn with” the answer becomes very clear. Are the guys I went to high school with going to be the ones repping our Robyn bras?
Uh… probably not. And that’s more than okay.
The problem with being “for everyone”
Let’s think about the artists, brands, and products that we LOVE.

Sabrina Carpenter’s music probably doesn't appeal to most men, but for us girls... OH my I'm obsessed. Because she clearly defines her audience, we resonate with her lyrics even more.
And it’s because she’s so clear about who she’s speaking to. From Manchild, Espresso, to Taste, Her lyrics hit harder because they’re specific. That clarity creates connection.
Love for ourselves & others 💜
Throughout my entire process building Robyn, I have found my greatest critic to be… myself. But, I think that has truly encouraged me to reflect on my own identity & who we are designing Robyn for.
Robyn is for the athletes who:
- Find joy in movement & being part of a team
- Trust the process, even when things get hard
- Love people for being their authentic self!
No one is perfect. We can never please everyone. What matters is we stay true to ourselves with kindness, passion, and authenticity… and the rest will follow.
